Why does the catholic church condemn the use of birth control?

I'm not Catholic, so I don't know for sure, but my understanding is that you are supposed to trust God to bless you with as many kids as he sees fit, the bible says to "go forth and multiply" and some people believe that means to let God decide. i see what you mean, and i am not Catholic, so I don't know for sure, but that's my understanding
